Sue Clifford, MA, LPC-S
I hold a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies and an MA in Community Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. My experience includes over 14 years of working with special populations. I am particularly passionate about supporting teachers and parents in their work with children. It is such a joy for me to work with children of all ages and their parents. I believe positive and strong relationships are the foundation of a healthy child.
Most of my professional life has been devoted to supporting students receiving special education services in the school system. I have worked with students with a variety of abilities, including Gifted and Talented and ASD populations, and have always enjoyed the unique challenges they bring. In addition to working with children, I believe in coming together to work with parents and other significant adults in a child's life. I believe it is important to strengthen relevant adult-child relationships for the benefit of the child and overall communication for everyone involved. I love sharing information in sessions as well as offering parenting classes and workshops to interested parties. .
In addition to my role as a counselor, I enjoy my work with The Key Counseling Services of SA as their lead consultant.
I feel it's important for you to know how strongly I believe in the power of a strong therapeutic relationship between counselor and client. It is my greatest tool to empower change and I am mindful to take special care of the relationship. I am an existentialist and believe in making meaning of one’s experiences. Some of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves are to heighten our own awareness, be authentic and present in our own lives.
